October 2: Mark 11:22-25: Faithful Prayer and Forgiveness
October 2: Mark 11:22-25: Faithful Prayer and Forgiveness
Women’s Bible Reading Plan Day 275. Today we read Mark 11:22-25. The theme is “Faithful Prayer and Forgiveness.” Through Jesus’ teaching on faith, prayer, and forgiveness, we learn to trust God in prayer and release the burdens of hurt, bitterness, and unforgiveness into His hands. This page includes Mark 11:22-25 Scripture, devotional reflection, meditation questions, a daily devotional verse, prayer, and life application.
Prayer is one of the most honest places we come before God. In prayer, we bring our tears, our waiting, our hidden pressures, and the worries we may not know how to explain. We bring our hopes, our fears, our family concerns, and the places in our hearts that feel tender and unfinished.
In Mark 11, Jesus reminds us that prayer is not only about naming our needs; it is also about learning to trust God. Prayer is not only asking God to change our circumstances; it is also allowing Him to touch our hearts. When Jesus speaks about faith and forgiveness together, we see that a heart trusting God is also invited to release bitterness and let go of the hurts it has been holding tightly.
For us as sisters, this passage comes close to everyday life. We may be praying for our family, children, marriage, work, health, ministry, or future. At the same time, we may also be carrying disappointment, misunderstanding, wounds, or quiet tears. Today, the Lord gently invites us: come to Him with faith, and bring even the places where forgiveness feels difficult.
In Mark 11:22-25, Jesus says to His disciples, “Have faith in God.” This is the center of the passage. True prayer does not place confidence in our feelings, strength, or methods, but in God Himself. We pray because God is faithful. We wait because God is still in control.
Jesus then teaches that if someone says to this mountain, “Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea,” and does not doubt in his heart, but believes, it shall be done. This does not mean prayer is a way to control God. It means we do not need to be intimidated by difficulties when we come before Him. Even the burdens that feel like mountains can be brought to God, because He is greater than our troubles.
Jesus also says that whatever we desire when we pray, we should believe that we receive it. Faith-filled prayer is not pretending we have no pain. It is choosing to trust that God hears, God knows, and God has His own timing and way. Dear sister, some prayers may not be answered immediately, but every sincere prayer brought before God is never wasted.
Finally, Jesus speaks about forgiveness. He says that when we stand praying, if we have anything against anyone, we should forgive. This shows us that prayer is not only about asking upward; it is also about allowing God to tend to our hearts. Forgiveness does not mean the hurt did not matter. It does not erase the tears. It means we place judgment, revenge, and the heavy burden of holding on into God’s hands, so our hearts are no longer chained by bitterness.
Today’s theme, “Faithful Prayer and Forgiveness,” invites us to learn two things: to trust God deeply in prayer, and to release forgiveness through His love. May we come before the Lord not with clenched fists, but with open hearts.
1 Jesus says, “Have faith in God.” In what area do you most need to place your faith back in God today—family, children, marriage, work, health, ministry, or the direction of your future?
2 Is there a “mountain” in your life that feels hard to move or impossible to cross? Are you willing to stop carrying it alone and bring it honestly before God?
3 When you pray, is it easy for you to believe that God hears you, or do worry, past disappointment, and unseen results make your heart hesitant? How does this passage encourage you to keep praying by faith?
4 Jesus connects prayer with forgiveness. Is there a person, a word, or a past experience that still brings pain, sadness, or resentment when you remember it? Are you willing to ask God to help you begin by placing that hurt in His hands?
Today, let us enter Mark 11:22-25 with these questions. Do not pressure yourself to feel strong, and do not pretend everything is already fine. The Lord knows our weakness, and He welcomes us when we come with honest hearts.
Let us take a quiet moment and bring our mountains, our tears, our burdens, and the people or wounds we have not fully released before the Lord. Then let us begin today’s reading together.
“Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”
— Mark 11:24
22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
✨ Thank you for walking through today’s Scripture with us, dear sister.
Mark 11:22-25 reminds us that prayer is rooted in trust in God, and a heart that trusts God is also invited to learn forgiveness before Him. Now let us come to the Lord as we are—not hiding our weakness, not holding tightly to our wounds, but asking Him to help us trust in prayer and release in love.

Ask the Lord to Help Me Have Faith in God
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding me through the words of Jesus, “Have faith in God.” I confess that many times I say I trust You, but my heart is still gripped by worry. When I face family concerns, relationships, work, children, health, and the future, I often pray and fear at the same time. I surrender, yet still want to stay in control.
Lord, have mercy on me and strengthen my small faith. Help me not build my faith on whether circumstances change immediately, but on Your unchanging faithfulness. Even when I cannot yet see the answer, help me believe that You hear, You know, and You are still in control. Amen.

Ask the Lord to Help Me Bring My Mountains Before Him
Lord, You know the mountains in my heart. Some things have not changed though I have tried for a long time. Some relationships leave me weary. Some pressures are hard to even speak about. Some seasons of waiting have almost taken away my courage.
Today, I bring these mountains before You. Help me stop carrying them alone and stop being ruled by how large they appear. You are greater than my problems, and Your power is beyond what I can imagine. Please make a way according to Your will, and strengthen my heart as I wait. Amen.

Ask the Lord to Lead Me Into the Freedom of Forgiveness
Heavenly Father, Jesus reminds me that when I stand praying, if I have anything against anyone, I should forgive. Lord, You know that some wounds cannot be released with just one sentence. Some tears have been hidden for a long time. Some hurts still ache when I remember them.
I do not want to pretend I was never hurt, but I also do not want bitterness to keep binding my heart. Please begin by healing the wounded places within me, and lead me step by step into the freedom of forgiveness. Help me place judgment in Your hands, give my pain to You, and entrust that person and that story to You. May my heart slowly loosen in Your love and receive peace again. Amen.

Interceding for Sisters
Heavenly Father, I also pray for the sisters around me. Many look strong on the outside, but carry heavy burdens within. They pray for their families, worry about their children, shed tears over relationships, and struggle with hurts that are not easy to forgive.
Lord, comfort them personally. Let every sister know that You hear her prayers, You see her tears, and You understand her wounds. Give her faith, and also give her strength to slowly release forgiveness in Your love, so her heart may receive freedom and joy again. Amen.
After reading Mark 11:22-25, we see that Jesus not only teaches us to pray, but to pray with faith. He not only cares about what we ask for, but also about whether our hearts are bound by bitterness.
Dear sister, perhaps today you carry a mountain in your heart, and perhaps there is also someone you have not fully released. The Lord does not condemn you for moving slowly, and He does not ask you to pretend you are fine. He gently invites you: bring the difficulty, bring the wound, bring the tears, and bring the heavy burden of forgiveness to Me.
May you trust God again in prayer today, and may you take one small step toward release in His love. The mountain may be great, but God is still in control. The wound may be deep, but the Lord is still able to heal. May your heart find freedom before Him and keep walking forward with faith, peace, and hope.
